Renowned Iranian mythologist, writer and translator Jalal Sattari passes away, aged 90.
Born in 1931 in the northern Iranian city Rasht, Sattari obtained a PhD in Psychology under the supervision of Swiss psychologist Jean Piaget. But today we remember and owe him for his publication and translation of over ninety books, including works by several eminent Western thinkers such as Gaston Bachelard, Antonin Artaud, Vladimir Propp, and Mircea Elliade.
In 2005, Sattari received the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters) from the French Culture Ministry. He was a member of the French Legion of Honor for his dedication to the cause of the culture during his career as a cultural activist.
