Write and Fear Not: Three Poems

By Shams Langeroodi

1
what good is a map of the whole world
the maps i love are those you dream up
lined with boundaries rivers subways houses
& a tiny map by you with a guard at each of the four corners
shouting to each other from their watchtowers
& whose two ends I unite
rolling it all up in a tube

2
now that I’ve been gulped
by the snow leopard
there’s no remedy
but to wait
& watch it melt

3
write
write & fear not
for mistakes can happen

write &
erase
like God who for millennia
keeps on writing & erasing
as those of us still alive
tremble
awaiting
erasure
