The UNESCO award for outstanding contribution to the promotion and preservation of cultural diversity through film was awarded to The Painting Pool from Iran.
Negar Javaherian, the star of The Painting Pool and also the best actress nominee, received the award on behalf of the cast on stage and made a speech on the Iranian culture.
Directed by Maziar Miri, The Painting Pool accounts the different life of Maryam (Negar Javaherian) and Reza (Shahab Hosseini) who, in spite of all the difficulties, attempt to preserve their family life and survive.
The film was the first choice of the spectators in the 31st Fajr Film Festival.
