Farhadi’s The Past grabs NBR’s Award for Best Foreign Film

The National Board of Review announced its 2013 awards winners on Wednesday (December 4, 2013), the list of winners is now available on the organization’s website, according to which Asghar Farhadi’s acclaimed film “The Past” is crowned as Best Foreign Film.


The French-language film “The Past”, which is Farhadi’s first project done outside of his homeland, is about an Iranian man named Ahmad who returns to Paris from Tehran after a four-year separation, upon his French wife Marie’s request, in order to finalize their divorce.
The film brought its French star Berenice Bejo the Palme d’Or for best actress at the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival.

The National Board of Review awards will be presented at a gala in New York on January 7,  2014 hosted by Lara Spencer.

The National Board of Review has named HER the 2013 Best Film of the Year. 

Now given the NBR Awards, Farhadi’s chances for another Oscar rises. Wish them good luck.
